6 November 2011 - Update on Dogs and Cats in Flood Affected Areas, Bangkok If you have already donated to our Flood Appeal – THANK YOU! It’s simply not possible for me to keep up with individual e-mails just at the moment, but please rest assured that your donation is received and will be acknowledged by e-mail as soon as possible. I very much appreciate your understanding and patience. Ongoing financial help is needed, so please, if you haven’t already done so, or if you can give again, donate right now. SCAD is working with a wonderful network of animal welfare groups and individuals, desperately trying to rescue, feed, treat, vaccinate and sterilize the thousands of animals affected by the flood crisis. This video shows why your help is so urgently needed.
To make cash deposits into our account or by telegraphic transfer: SCAD is collaborating with Soi Dog Foundation, TREAT, Pic-A-Pet4Home, A Call, Elephant Nature Foundation, Kinship Circle and Chulalongkorn University Small Animal Clinic, plus many other caring groups and individuals. SCAD volunteer and dog adopter Erik Teer has been out day and night with a rescue team from the Kinship Circle, and some of the dogs have come into SCAD’s immediate care. Mama Rangsit and her eight pups are the lucky ones who are supported by your donation. Mama Rangsit has mastitis (infection of the teats) and was in incredible pain when rescued. Her engorged teats had also been ripped while trying to escape the floods and secondary infection was setting in. Feeding eight, six-week old pups was not helping the situation. Thanks to donors like you, Mama Rangsit is now getting the medical care, vaccination and spay surgery that will bring her back to full health. Her pups are now in the SCAD adoption program and your donation goes towards finding them a loving, forever home. This is how your donation is being used right now:
Hill’s (Vet Recommended) is working with SCAD to assess how much dry and canned food they can supply to us and other groups during this time. They delivered an emergency supply of nutritious cat food to SCAD on Friday to help us support the 60 cats and kittens currently in our care. There is still so much to be done and the animals and their carers face many months of hardship ahead. Help us help them, by donating today. |
