SCAD (formerly Soi Dog Rescue) does not receive any official funding; it exists on donations from the public, proceeds generated from sales at its two ‘ReTails’ stores and funds/services provided by volunteers. If you are able to make a donation to SCAD when adopting a rescued kitten or cat, it would be warmly appreciated and will go towards helping other rescued animals.
The kitten/cat that you adopt will have received age appropriate vaccines, and will have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough. Please note that SCAD does not vaccinate for FIP – this is your responsibility along with keeping your pet's other vaccinations up to date. All cats & kittens might require fecal exams and possibly worming medications. If we have medical records, they will be given to you along with the vaccination certificate.
We cannot guarantee, nor can we be responsible for, the health of the pets being adopted. Most of the pets under our foster care have come from unknown origins. Whilst all have been checked by a veterinarian, and every effort has been made to ensure the basic health of our animals, some might be incubating diseases that are not readily apparent at the time of adoption. No monetary compensation will be given by SCAD in such cases.
Under no circumstances should a SCAD kitten be sold, traded, put out on the street, or disposed of in any way. If you cannot continue to care for the animal, you must ensure your cat is re-homed in a loving long-term household, and you should notify SCAD immediately.
