Puppy mills are common in Thailand and operated by unscrupulous people who are in the business purely for commercial profit. Dogs raised under puppy mill conditions and sold in pet shops are often damaged emotionally and physically as they are reared in tight, unsanitary quarters with little or no socialisation with humans. They don't receive veterinary care and females are bred repeatedly, some when they're as young as 6 months. Dogs kept for breeding under these conditions live a sad and tragic life.
If you can’t find your special dog here at SCAD, then check the other rescue organisations and shelters in Thailand before deciding to buy a pet from a pet shop or market.
