New focus for Hua Hin Dog Rescue Center

Headrock Dogs

Hua Hin Dog Rescue Center (HHDRC) has recently rebranded! Now known as HEADROCK DOGS Rehoming Centre, this animal welfare organisation under the continuing management of Dawn Poole has changed its name with effect from January 2008 to reflect its new focus - that of an Adoption Centre focusing on the 150+ rescued dogs already in its care.

With support from Sherry Conisbee and Billie Minshall of SCAD Bangkok - which itself started out as an adoption service in 2002 - a new Adoption Programme for Headrock Dogs is being put in place to give these truly deserving dogs from Hua Hin a chance at a better life - in a home of their own with a family that will love them forever. Take a look at the doggy candidates here.

The name Headrock, chosen by Dawn for her new adoption facility, is the English translation of HUA HIN. The organisation's previous focus was the much-needed rescue, rehabilitation and sheltering of dogs born into a grim existence on the streets of Hua Hin. But with a Centre now overflowing with healthy rehabilitated dogs of every shape and size, Dawn decided it was time to place more emphasis on finding homes for these deserving pets and to put a ban on any more intakes. Taking the longterm view and wishing to help many more Hua Hin dogs in the future, Dawn will lead Headrock Dogs over coming years into community-based CNR (catch-neuter-release) projects once the new adoption centre is established and running well.

New Headrock Dogs Facility

Plans are in place to buy land and build a safe haven where these dogs can be cared for until they find their forever homes. Dawn, with help from committed sponsors and volunteers, intends turning this new rehoming facility into an impressive centre for the care of dogs, with provision for surgery and treatment rooms, airy kennel runs, exercise yards, an adoption room where dogs can interact with their chosen humans (!), an office, kennelhand quarters and food preparation rooms.

Lend a Hand

If you live in Hua Hin, please lend a hand... dogs need to be shown love daily, socialised, leash-trained, exercised, fed, watered and medicated - jut a few hours each week will be truly appreciated. If being hands-on is not in your comfort zone, then there are plenty of other areas in which your help is desperately needed: adoption admin, advertising, writing, poster design, accounting, event planning.. and more. Please put your talents to good use for the needy dogs of Hua Hin.
