Zade (now in Chiang Mai)

Date of Birth/Age:
6 August 2006

Gender:
Male

Species:
Dog

Breed:
Mixed (mainly Retriever-type features)

Weight:
28 kg (61 lb)

Background:
Zade is one of a litter of 13. Mum had given birth to numerous litters on the street, all of whom had been unwanted by the local community and died as a result. A local lady wanted this litter to have a chance, so SCAD took them into care at two days old, along with mum. Mum was so exhausted from feeding 13 pups that SCAD staff had to assist by hand-rearing.

Due to SCAD's closure, Zade moved to the Elephant Nature Park dog sanctuary in Chiang Mai - www.elephantnaturepark.org - where he will stay until he finds his forever home.

Features:
Zade is the largest of the three black and white males in his litter. He and his brothers have virtually identical facial markings. Zade has a smooth, short, white coat with large black and brown patches over his body. He has soft floppy ears and a straight tail which he holds in line with his body. He is very keen on his food and a close eye needs to be kept on weight gain! Low level grooming is required.

Character:
Zade is categorized as a special needs dog because of his nervous nature and instances of aggressive behavior towards certain dogs. He is playful, loving, inquisitive and friendly with the people he knows, but can be aloof and wary with newcomers. Zade adores long walks, really enjoys swimming and is one of the more gregarious dogs at our Center. Although Zade enjoys gentle mouthing and wrestling games with most of the dogs, he has been known to be overly aggressive towards smaller, younger or weaker dogs. Zade will flourish in a home of his own with more training and one-on-one contact. He is best suited to an adult home with no other animals.
