Get involved with SCAD

Mar 2009: Students from the American School of Bangkok come to visit SCAD bringing goods from a donation drive and a cheque from their fund-raising efforts. After some time at the Resource Centre learning about Stray Animal Welfare and Responsible Pet Ownership, the students enjoyed a tour of SCAD's facility where they could meet and play with some of the cats and dogs there.

Here are a few ways in which your school can become involved. Students are encouraged though to come up with ideas of their own to suit their age and the amount of time they have to offer, in and out of school.

  • Design and distribute animal welfare posters in your school neighbourhood
  • Food and equipment drives
  • Collect children's toys, books, games, or other personal and home items and organise a 'garage' sale with proceeds going to an animal welfare organisation of your choice (click through to our list)
  • Raise funds in enterprising and educational ways to sponsor a kitten or puppy or organise a 'spay day with spellathons, sporting challenges, bake sales, raffles, art competitions, etc
  • Initiate a neighbourhood sterilisation project (seniors only, needs a dedicated teacher)
  • Write to medical and general suppliers to obtain supplies for animal welfare organisations
